Overview
WholeScripts set out to build a net-new e-Commerce platform for healthcare practitioners to recommend and sell supplements directly to patients. As a B2B solution with B2C functionality, the system also included a CRM component—enabling seamless prescription, fulfillment, and compliance tracking.
My Role
Senior UI Designer

I worked as a UX Developer on a cross-functional team for over two years, participating in UI design, front-end development, user research, and coaching. My responsibilities spanned across card sorting exercises, survey creation, user testing, and implementing scalable UI components.
Project Details:

Timeline: 2019 - 2020
Team size: 3 people
Users: 30,000
Total Screens produced: 300
Methodology: Waterfall
Programs used: Xd, Dreamweaver
 The Challenge
Practitioners using the existing system were limited to prescribing only XYMOGEN products, with no ability to:
Drop-ship to patients
Recommend outside their inventory
Track patient adherence or feedback
Manage out-of-stock scenarios effectively

Many had to order supplements to their offices and manually reship them, creating extra overhead. Meanwhile, patients desired more flexibility: the ability to purchase additional supplements, communicate limitations (like cost), and access travel-sized products.
Strategy & Vision
Introduce a Practitioner Portal featuring:

- A smart dashboard with patient compliance analytics
- A recommendation engine
- Support for custom product creation and white-labeling
- Alerts for low inventory or patient needs

On the patient side, we built a consumer-facing e-Commerce site connected to recommendations, offering:
- Direct-to-home shipping
- Additional supplement exploration
- Mobile-friendly alerts and modals for clarity
Our Process
This project followed a Waterfall methodology over a 2-year span. To overcome years of user habituation to poor UX, we:
Conducted diary studies to understand real-world workflow
Held feedback and testing sessions with early adopter
Implemented iterative design cycles to gradually rebuild trust
Focused on scalability and accessibility within the front-end codebase

We analyzed competitors—Amazon, Thorne, and Fullscript—and identified gaps:
Amazon lacked product safety standards and practitioner oversight
Thorne didn’t offer prescription management
Fullscript lacked autoship and detailed patient compliance tools
The Outcome
Key Features Designed:
- Practitioner Dashboard
- Patient Management System
- Recommendation Portal
- MedPax Portal
- e-Commerce Site
- Notification system for patients and practitioners

Our dual-pronged approach led to:
+ Increased product sales for both WholeScripts and its practitioners
+ Improved patient compliance through easier access and reminders
+ Increase in patient satisfaction from a more convenient, flexible experience
